Assistant Professor in Product Development/Sourcing
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management (AESHM) at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active program of scholarship and/or research related to sourcing and product development; apply theory and research methods in their scholarship; engage in grant writing, acquisition, and management; teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; and engage in service in professional organizations and at the University. Research collaboration, within and among programs and departments, is strongly encouraged. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, high standards, and professional ethics, and be a team player. Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion is expected.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in an area of apparel or related field by the start date of August 16, 2020.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion. Demonstrated record of research in soft goods product development and/or sourcing. Demonstrated record of course development and excellence in teaching related to soft goods product development and/or sourcing. Demonstrated record of working in/with relevant industry. Demonstrated expertise in areas of soft goods product development and/or sourcing.Â This includes:Â 1) project management / communication tools (e.g. PLM), 2) global sourcing, supply chain, and vendors, 3) data analysis, costing, and financial, 4) brand management, 5) trend forecasting, 6) global textile and apparel trade, 7) sustainability and ethics, and 8) product innovation. Potential to supervise graduate students. Potential to secure external funding. Excellent written communication skills.
