ITS is seeking a front-end software developer who will be responsible for the development and ongoing support of web applications that support the cultural heritage community at Yale University. The applications will be designed through strong collaboration with our cultural heritage partners. Responsible for translating functional requirements into technical requirements, working with functional stakeholders to clarify requirements, and providing accurate estimates.
The successful candidate will work on a team with other developers and system administrators. The team will work collaboratively to solve problems and perform code review. This person will be responsible for developing accessible applications that provide ample performance to process large volumes of information in a variety of formats including but not limited to text, images, audio, video, metadata, structured data, and unstructured data managed by Yale’s libraries, galleries, and museums.
This is a dynamic and polyglot (multi-language) environment. While we don't expect a person to be expert at everything we list, the successful candidate must be eager and able to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience with frameworks such as React, AngularJS and Vue.js.
Experience translating functional requirements into technical requirements, working with functional stakeholders to clarify requirements, and providing accurate estimates.
Preferred Education and Experience: Experience working with Cultural Heritage organizations and technologies. Experience creating applications that adhere to WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards. Experience with Java, Python or Ruby; Web application frameworks such as Spring, Ruby on Rails, Django, Flask; XML, Apache Solr, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.), Docker. Experience with GIT as a source control package.
