Provide responsive and timely technology support for UC Libraries (UCL) staff as well as library users in public service areas in UCL. Provide support for installing, maintaining, and modifying operating systems, database management systems, utilities, and related software. Support library equipment, software and other technologies and manage IT equipment and software inventory. Assist with planning, implementing and trouble-shooting of technologies, and assist with overall project management and implementation. Provide support for the AV and video production facilities and events. This position is a three (3) year term appointment.
RELATIONSHIP/AUTHORITY: Reports to and receives general direction from the Computer Systems Administrator Lead.
Provide PC/workstation support for hardware and systems software interfaces; install and configure standard operating systems and integrate them with related systems; ensure system integrity between hardware and operating systems; troubleshoot errors in system operations and related networks. Support off-the-shelf software application programs and train users.
Assist to ensure smooth and efficient IT service management through the use of the campus Incident Management System.
Assist and work with all staff to ensure resolution of reported issues.
Manage IT equipment and software inventory.
Create new and maintain existing documentation.
Explore and recommend implementation of appropriate emerging and innovative technologies for operational efficiency and service improvement.
Provide support for web conferencing, video capture and processing.
Provide AV services and support as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related degree; -OR- an Associate’s degree with two (2) years of experience; or four (4) years of basic to intermediate level computer hardware related experience.
Possesses working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures and contributes through support, using established processes, methods, and systems.
Demonstrated experience supporting Microsoft and Apple operating systems in an enterprise environment, as well as Unix/Linux, Microsoft Office applications, and Adobe applications.
Experience with user and device management systems such as SCCM and Jamf, group policy objects and Active Directory.
Experience with service management software such as ServiceNow.
Experience with collaboration tools such as Webex, MS Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint.
Experience with videography and editing programs such as Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
Familiarity with emerging technologies such as AR/VR, mixed reality, IoT, Virtual Assistant, cloud services and applications.
