Position Description: Under the general direction of the Director and Associate Director of the California Conservation Genomic Project (CCGP), the incumbent leads the financial services of all operational and sponsored research activity for the CCGP. This includes managing a multi-campus research program centered at UCLA and being responsible for the management of $10 million of State Funds to be used by several Principal Investigators at UCLA and also distributed as awards to other UC campuses.
Incumbent interprets University policy and guidelines, advises Director, Associate Director and several Principal Investigators to ensure compliance with University, Federal and State policies, provides and analyzes financial reports for Associate Director and Director and prepares detailed budgets and projections, identifies and resolves potential shortfalls, and controls expenses.
The primary duties include analyses and reporting of account activities and budgets, reconciling accounts, verification of appropriateness of all charges, resolution of expenditure problems, generation of timely accurate financial reports with insightful projects to aid PI's in proper grant administration, pre-award process (budget development, compiling grant components for submission), set-up and close out award, create agency financial reports, maintenance of files, serve as primary project resource concerning policies, procedures, and financial administration of Contracts and Grants and serve as project liaison to other key University administrative units to coordinate these actions (Extramural Fund Management, Sponsored Research, etc.).
In addition, the incumbent is to manage the communication support in order to manage this multi-campus research program centered at UCLA, which includes providing support to the Director and Associate Director associated with project implementation and coordination. This includes scheduling meetings, teleconferences, conferences, emailing PIs across campus, managing participant engagement in teleconferences, conferences and events. Incumbent is to manage the maintenance of the website. Incumbent is to manage, oversee, coordinate and execute events, including conferences/symposia, workshops, oversee communication inside and outside of UCLA, and interface with faculty, scholars, student researchers and other key collaborators inside and outside of UCLA.
