Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Talent Management (AVP|TM), the Director of Learning and Development will manage and lead the learning and development team in implementing a comprehensive learning and development plan for Chapman University employees.
With a strong emphasis in curriculum planning, assessment, and program design that is both customized and scalable, the Director will design, implement, and assess various learning and development initiatives, programs, and tools. The focus will be on creating a learning culture for employees through the design, delivery, and assessment of programs, including, but not limited to: leadership development, management development, employee engagement, and the employee experience.
The Director will lead the learning and development program review process to ensure the creation, implementation, and evaluation of each program’s educational outcomes, including program outcomes and employee learning outcomes, are met. This includes designing assessment tools, compiling statistics for analysis of qualitative and quantitative assessment data, and preparing summary reports for internal distribution.
The Director will partner with Human Resources colleagues in the development of the organization – from a learning culture perspective – by implementing and assessing initiatives and best practices that increase efficiency, strengthen employee knowledge and abilities, and grow leadership. The work will include diagnosing organizational learning, culture and development needs, creating learning and development initiatives, and delivering best-in-class solutions that support Chapman's mission.

A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field – or a combination of education and experience – is required
Analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to organize, analyze, summarize, and effectively tailor and present initiatives to a diverse group of constituents
Highly developed organizational and time management skills to effectively achieve and prioritize multiple tasks and an ability to maintain patience, focus and perspective in a results-oriented, fast- paced environment
Demonstrated experience in curriculum planning and program design that is customizable and scalable
Commitment to diverse and inclusive engagement and an ability to connect with others and cultivate relationships based on mutual trust and respect, collegiality and kindness
Emotionally intelligent with a demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively
Demonstrated capability as a project manager, delivering on complex employee development and learning programs
A Master's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Communications or related field is preferred
Experience in business and change management in higher education is preferred
Certifications in Group Facilitation, Organizational Diagnostics & Management Development, or Prior Classroom Instruction is preferred
