The Institute on Inequalities in Global Health (IIGH) in the Department of Preventive Medicine is looking for a Program Specialist to join the team at the University of Southern California (USC). The Program Specialist is responsible for managing educational affairs and related day-to-day operations of the Institute and for supporting Institute research projects as relevant.
Working closely with the Education and Research Directors, she/he is responsible for developing and managing educational initiatives of the Institute, and supporting diverse research projects.Â The ideal candidate for this position should have experience in project management, strategic planning, and working with faculty and students. In addition, she/he should possess a high level of customer service, attention to detail, understanding of program operations, and marketing. Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential to the success of this role, as well as the ability to work with team members, faculty and university partners.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Support the planning, implementation and management of key educational initiatives and activities
Develop and maintain systems and procedures to facilitate education program operations
Manage processes and reporting of new developments in curriculum
Gather data and prepare reports for administrators
Implement education program evaluation efforts and incorporate results into program planning activities, marketing, etc.
Stay current on university policies, procedures and agency regulations pertaining to education and student affairs
Analyze and synthesize policy, qualitative and epidemiological data;
Carry out literature reviews and web-based research;
Support the development, testing and application of research tools;
Prepare materials for publication including peer-reviewed articles, technical reports, and other documents as needed;
Create status reports on research project plans and communicating status of work to Institute faculty;
Collaborate with Institute faculty and staff to support ongoing research projects as required;
Participate in overall Institute coordination efforts, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Coordinate and participate in relevant meetings, conferences, etc.
Represent University/IIGH as assigned or appropriate
Masterâs degree in relevant field, MPH/MBA/MEd preferred
At least 5 years of relevant experience in an educational setting
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum educationMinimum Experience: 2 yearsMinimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional experience in program specialization, e.g., counseling or teaching.
