RSG is seeking an experienced market research consultant to join our growing consulting firm. This position will be based in one of the following RSG office locations: Arlington, VA, Portland, OR, or White River Junction, VT.
AS A SENIOR CONSULTANT
You conduct survey research and travel data analysis for metropolitan planning organizations, state departments of transportation, airport and toll authorities, transit agencies, and the U.S. Department of Transportation using emerging technologies and data sources. You lead the management, design, administration, and analysis of travel surveys across a variety of topics and methods, including household travel studies, longitudinal panel surveys, transit demand studies, long-distance travel, and transit or other non-motorized travel studies and research.
Manage all stages of the market research project cycle including survey design, data management, analysis, and nurturing and developing strategic client relationships
Manage all phases of development work, including the preparation of proposals and budgets.
Communicate complex technical materials in concise and meaningful ways to project team members and clients
Develop and implement innovative approaches to travel behavior research in partnership with RSG’s model development and software engineering teams
Ensure work product for assigned projects are delivered on time and in accordance with RSG business standards
Mentor and manage staff assigned to projects
Develop project plans, including timelines, inputs, and outputs at various stages
Contribute to strategies to grow existing and develop new business lines
Identify potential roadblocks throughout the project life cycle and work with team leadership to develop contingency plans to mitigate risk and ensure project deliverable deadlines are met
Bachelor’s degree in market research, business analytics, statistics, transportation, math, economics, engineering, geography, business, or a similarly relevant field of study
8+ years of experience in the market research, transportation, or similar field using advanced analytic methods and tools
Efficient manager of workflows and processes with the proven ability to manage multiple competing projects, priorities, and deadlines
Effective leading teams and managing staff
Demonstrated drive and ability to lead the development of new innovative processes in emerging fields.
Proficient in relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Demonstrated professionalism and poise
Accomplished in technical and business writing
Proficient in statistical analysis, data management and presentation
Experience or interest in GPS and smartphone data and technology
Master’s degree or advanced degree (or equivalent work experience) in transportation, market research, data analytics, statistics, math, economics, engineering, geography, business, or a similarly relevant field of study.
4+ years demonstrated experience working with clients in a consulting (or similar) environment
Proficient with using R / Python
PMP or other project management certification/training
Experience in survey sampling and weighting
Understanding of data privacy laws including GDPR and CCPA
