Looking for a great experience practicing quality medicine with an organization whose mission is to help pets and families in need while striving to maintain a healthy work-life balance for our team? At Second Chance Animal Services, our veterinarians practice high quality medicine while being able to focus on helping pets in need.
We are looking for passionate veterinarians to join our non-profit organization at a time of exciting growth. In addition to growing demand for services at each of our three clinic locations, we are expanding our scope of work to include a training program linked to a vocational high school in our area. This new educational program exemplifies our dedication to further improve access to veterinary care and will add a fourth clinic location in 2021.. With our current team of 10 veterinarians and 3 locations there is an opportunity to work in just one location or multiple locations. There are also opportunities to work in the community as well through mobile outreach veterinary services.
As an organization focused on helping pets in need there are many opportunities to focus on the area(s) of veterinary work that you love the most. Do you love general practice? Surgery? Dental care? Community outreach? Or all of the above? Our diverse and unique clientele often seeks out our services when their pet has acute illness and urgent or emergent needs-- as a result, if you love urgent care or emergency medicine there is opportunity to satisfy those interests as well BUT with no late night or holiday hours!
Our current team at Second Chance represents a wide range of experience in medicine, surgery, and shelter medicine. This team includes a talented and dedicated support staff prepared to provide the assistance needed to allow for efficiency in delivery of care to our patients.. We work as independently as we like and as collaboratively as we need to provide high quality care for the pets we see. As a progressive, non-profit organization, we strive to provide the highest quality of medical care to our patients while also providing subsidized prices for those who qualify so that we can offer help to every needy pet.
For new or recent graduates we offer a mentoring program at our North Brookfield hospital and exposure to a diversity of surgical and medical cases that is rarely seen in community practice. New graduates will have the opportunity to explore all clinical areas to find their personal area of interest..
We encourage all veterinarians at Second Chance to develop and grow their professional skills according to each individual’s interests and abilities. We especially encourage areas that will add to our ability to help patients or will support the services that we currently offer. We are eager to offer extra training for veterinary diagnostics and treatments such as ultrasound, cardiology and dentistry for those with an interest in these fields.
Appointments are offered six days a week with clinic hours ending by 2PM on Saturdays. Our clinic is equipped with a full dental and surgical suite including digital dental x-ray and a Cardell veterinary monitoring system as well as digital x-ray, ultrasound and in-house blood analyzers. We see daytime emergencies as we are able but no evening or after-hours emergencies to allow our staff more time for their life outside of work.
Key characteristics of a “best fit” veterinarian for our organization include: a resourceful team player, strong communication skills, desire to work for a non-corporate community practice, interest in working with a team of veterinarians who value communication and collaboration between colleagues, a positive individual who meets the challenges of a work day with optimism and compassion.
We offer a very competitive salary based on each veterinarian’s experience level and abilities as well as a benefits and rewards package including health and dental insurance, 403b plan (non-profit equivalent of 401k), bonuses, professional licenses reimbursement, VIN membership, CE allowances and discounted pet services. Our veterinarians may also qualify for the PSLF program.
