As Project Accounting Manager for Graycor Industrial Constructors, you will direct and coordinate the project accounting functions and the proper execution and documentation of contract and financial reporting activities for all Company projects.

Develop and maintain a structured process to ensure documentation and reports are adequately reviewed and all transactions comply with internal policies and accounting principles. Works closely with Corporate Accounting team to assure these processes are aligned across all businesses.
Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with project management and company leadership.
Coordinate the timely preparation of annual budget forecasts for all projects and subsequent roll up into corporate budget.
Provide status of financial conditions by collecting, interpreting and reporting financial data.
Ensure a high level of communication of financial project management information to company leadership, divisional managers and other internal customers.
Report on project costs related to budgeted amounts with impact on project profitability monthly, quarterly and annually.
Management Responsibility Over Project Accounting Staff:
Hire, train and manage project accounting, timekeeping and administrative staff located at the home office and remote project locations; coach and guide staff to resolve issues as needed.
Mentor and develop staff for performance improvement and career development; conduct performance appraisals and approve employee goal plans.
Management over Project Accounting Function:
Ensure monthly cash flow forecasting for all projects.
Ensure all monthly project invoices are prepared and issued to clients and provided to the accounts receivable department on time.
Ensure all financial activities and requirements relating to project close-outs are completed.
Work with project management staff to ensure proper compliance with accounting procedures, including reviewing and analyzing job cost estimates and reports monthly. Ensure project billings are accurate and comply with contract terms.
Ensure subcontractor compliance with conditions of prime and subcontract as a means of control of payments.
Manage vendor set up and manage completion of credit applications.
Maintain complete project files within ERP/PM software, including contractor, supplier and vendors.
Review and post job costs accurately, ensure cost types and classifications are accurate for historical control.
Participate in project review meeting with project management and vice presidents/general managers.
Accounts Payable, Receivable and Invoicing:
Administer and maintain the purchase order workflow to ensure commitments have required supporting documentation and are in accordance with policies.
Responsible for accounts receivable tracking, management, and reporting and dashboard set up through company ERP/PM software.
Processing payment applications and invoices through job costing at the requests of project management and business leaders.
Monitor the client invoicing process, to ensure that change orders are being invoiced and monthly progress billings are properly submitted.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
Minimum of eight to ten years of total prior accounting experience; of which a minimum of 4-6 years is within construction project accounting (both field and office).
Undergraduate degree with a concentration in finance, accounting, business management or other relevant discipline. Accounting degree highly preferred.
Prior experience managing project accounting, timekeeping or administrative staff located at remote project locations preferred.
Commitment to recruiting, coaching, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate as needed. Approachable and serves as a resource, mentor, and coach to others.
Strong financial and business acumen combined with interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills to effectively partner, advise and influence all levels of staff and management with varying degrees of financial knowledge.
Advanced Excel skills required. Previous experience with JD Edwards, Crystal Report Writer, Great Plains, iCIMS, or Timberline software is a plus. Previous experience with Ceridian Dayforce is a plus. Experience using financial report writer tools beneficial.
Strong sense of urgency and initiative to achieve timely, quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary (up to 20%).
