Job Description Summary
The Associate Director for the Regional Clubs overseas a portfolio of alumni clubs based in cities across the United States and internationally. This position is responsible for managing the leadership of clubs, which consist of dedicated, active and engaged alumni volunteers. The Associate Director serves as the main conduit and point person between alumni and the university and focuses on engagement of alumni through regional events. The Associate Director works with the club leaders to develop a broad range of programs throughout the year in their respective regions. These events include social, cultural and intellectual programs which include lectures by university professors, university leadership, community service, Penn athletic viewing parties, and other alumni networking and social gatherings. The Associate Director will help organize these events and occasionally travel to the events. The Associate Director must also be knowledgeable, engaged and up to date with the history and current events on the University of Pennsylvania campus, including research and publications by professors, student activities, and staff leadership goals and initiatives. The Associate Director works with a wide range of alumni with varied interests from different schools and graduation years. Responsibilities: - Manage a portfolio of domestic and international alumni clubs - volunteer management and training; coordinate volunteer programs and services designed to engage and cultivate a national and international network of alumni volunteers - Oversee and enhance Volunteer Leadership Development program â“ in-person, virtual and online materials - International Clubs â“ assist Director in developing strategy for the international alumni clubs to better establish regional communications and support - Coordinate with schools within Penn to develop alumni programs, events, volunteer activities and services that promote alumni leadership and advocacy and support the programming, outreach and engagement goals - Coordinate with schools with regional alumni chapters and develop strategies for supporting them - Assist with management of Regional Clubs Advisory Board
Bachelor's Degree required, Masterâ™s degree in higher education preferred, and 3-5 years of related experience in alumni relations, nonprofit organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must enjoy working in a university environment with smart, engaging, successful and sometimes demanding alumni who have a deep affection and commitment to the university. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge, experience traveling internationally. Exceptional project management skills. Knowledge and experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, training. A positive, pro-active and motivated self-starter with excellent people skills and event planning experience. Innovative and able to adapt quickly when unexpected changes or challenges emerge during planned events. Strong team player with a can-do attitude who is willing to pitch in to help colleagues. Experience with building and executing new and innovative programs for volunteer management and engagement. Analytical skills and comfort working with and learning new technology. Significant knowledge of the University and its alumni programs is strongly preferred.Â
