Summary: The Environmental Scientist will provide support for environmental projects including Phase I and Phase II, Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, NEPA assessments, wetlands and forest stand delineations, and field work as assigned.
Scientific and engineering principles will be used and applied to achieve PEER’s vision statement and to support senior engineers and project managers in solving our clients’ projects
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform Phase I ESAs in accordance with ASTM standards and local, state and federal regulations
Perform asbestos inspections in accordance with AHERA guidelines and local, state and federal regulations
Perform lead-based paint inspections in accordance with HUD guidelines and local, state and federal regulations
Assist with field activities including wetlands and forest stand delineations, soil sampling, water/groundwater sampling, site investigations and other field activities
Comply with applicable safety rules and regulations.
Help ensure that company quality standards and protocol are adhered to and maintained.
Follow directions from management and technical staff.
Assume other related responsibilities from time to time, as required.
Knowledge, Education & Experience:
Master’s degree in environmental science or related discipline.
Must have strong technical writing skills and be attentive to details.
Minimum 5 to 8 years of demonstrated experience in environmental sciences.
Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
Must be proficient ArcGIS.
Must have the ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and drawings.
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
