New Jersey Resources is seeking a Sr. Benefits Analyst responsible for the administration of retirement and health and welfare employee benefit programs. Responsibilities include explaining benefits and assisting with management of service providers. Assist in the design and development of health and welfare plans. Compiles, analyzes and reports data. Provides benefit plan interpretation, guidance and counsel to employees and managers. Presents information to inform and educate employees. This position is responsible for data maintenance and ensuring the integrity of all HR-Benefits information for the organization.
Major Responsibilities: • Responsible for the implementation of benefit programs, including the analysis, budgeting and communication of new programs • Responsible for the administration and oversight of pension schemes • Responsible for the benefit systems data integrity and ongoing ability to enroll and update employee selections; works with HRIS and vendors to ensure that the HR/Payroll system meets benefits needs and is updated to reflect changes in eligibility for benefit programs, etc. • Act as liaison between company and various carriers, third party administrators and trust companies • Oversee preparation of and maintain benefits description booklets, certificates and Summary Plan Descriptions for applicable plans within scope of responsibility • Work with and coordinate inside and outside actuaries • Represent benefit interests to broader HR teams and present issues and recommendations to HR leaders as may be required • Cost projections and vendor renewal workups: gather data from the client and vendors to populate Excel spreadsheets used for developing cost projections and evaluation of vendor renewal workups; results are used as part of client renewal and budget meetings • Plan design consolidation: gather data from the client and current vendors needed for analyzing the impact of a client’s consolidation of its healthcare plans; typically involves organizing and summarizing plan design details and costs in Excel for further analysis by the team; responsibilities also include checking data for reasonableness and follow-up with vendors regarding missing or inaccurate data • Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency • Act as a liaison between HR, vendors and associates to provide outstanding customer service to our employees with benefit-related inquiries; respond to health and welfare issues for employees • Responsible for benefits projects through the entire life cycle, coordinating the efforts of vendors, internal team members and other business units

Position Specifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of five years’ experience in benefits planning and administration or a human resources generalist role • Expert knowledge in a variety of benefits concepts, practices and procedures; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals • Experienced practitioner in the administration and evaluation of benefits programs, exhibiting knowledge of benefits principles and practices; recognized as a technical expert in benefits practices and programs • Strong organization and project management skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments/projects, timelines and to identify project interdependencies, resource needs, potential risks/pitfalls and mitigation plans • Strong proficiency in MS Office Excel and Word applications • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong attention to detail and time management • Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter (ERISA/COBRA/HIPAA/FMLA/ACA) • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across all levels of the organization
