The Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Iberian/Peninsular Literary and Cultural Studies to join our team. The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Iberian/Peninsular Literary and Cultural Studies. This is a nine-month position starting August 15, 2020, with possibility of renewal for two additional years based on positive performance and departmental need. The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach up to four courses per year. Light service to the department is expected (e.g. participate in Undergraduate Studies Committee and graduate examination committees). Native or near-native Spanish and English proficiency are required. Applications from those with fluency or near-native competence in at least one other Iberian/Peninsular language (e.g., Catalan, Basque, Galician) strongly welcomed.

Doctoral degree at time of appointment in Iberian/Peninsular Literary and Cultural Studies or related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with research profiles in Film and/or Media Studies (film, television, digital, transmediation, etc.) in Spain. Work focusing on Iberian film is of particular interest. Strengths in other areas such as immigration or memory studies welcomed. Candidates must demonstrate an active research agenda, possess a strong theoretical orientation, and commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
