Program Coordinator - Department of Biochemistry 14208
The Department of Biochemistry at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an Program Coordinator. This position will work directly with the Chairperson of the Biochemistry Department and serve to increase the capacity of the Chairperson to carry out administrative duties and responsibilities as well as market and promote the activities of the department to both internal and external audiences.
In order to be successful in the position, the ideal candidate will:
Assist in coordinating and operationalizing various projects/initiates related to the Biochemistry Division and its mission of academic , research, and public service initiatives.
Provide an efficient and service-oriented infrastructure for the academic, research, and public service mission-related activities . Responsible for all aspects of departmental outreach initiatives.
Provide project management leadership for the Department of Biochemistry, and for the field related to (1) designing opportunities for broader impact, education , public outreach, and science education, specifically, actively participate in the creation of new undergraduate and Master's level programs and (2) connecting faculty to existing and new opportunities.
Position will manage newly established programs including admissions, recruitment , programmatic development and special events.
Gather, assemble and provide information to various audiences relative to project management.
Brings to the attention of the Chairperson of the Biochemistry Department critical programs needing immediate action, preparing responses as appropriate.
Departmental liaison with the WVU Foundation. Position will coordinate, in collaboration with WVU Foundation personnel, meetings with prospective donors, fund raising, and assist the departmental chairperson with all philanthropic activities.
Prioritizes, commits, and schedules appointments for the Chairperson of the Biochemistry Department utilizing judgment and knowledge of prior commitments.
Coordinates scheduling of meetings and adjust meeting date's times to accommodate the Chairperson of the Biochemistry Department schedule as well as those of the participants in the meeting.
Acts as the Biochemistry Department's Web editor. These duties include , but are not limited to; web design IO% and updates, social media , SOLE website updates for courses, data storage and back-up.
Update and maintain current information on faculty profiles and individual lab websites.
Position will attend all available internal training sessions on web editing. All web editing duties will be completed in accordance with established WVU policies and guide lines.
Pay Grade: 15
Bachelors degree required in a related field; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Three (3 ) years of progressively responsible experience in office administration including complex administrative support and calendar maintenance.
Demonstrated ability to provide and maintain exceptional customer service.
Demonstrated ability to function with a high degree of independent judgment and personal initiative to identify problems , execEte programs, manage concurrent/overlapping and sometimes challenging deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication.

Excellent organizational and time management skills required in managing workload, multiple projects, project management , requests , deadlines, etc.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and deal tactfully with a variety of people, including internal and external constituents, administrators, faculty, staff, other WVU units' employees, vendors , and the general public.
Demonstrated ability to function professionally, sometimes under deadlines and/or stressful or confrontational situations.
Demonstrated computer skills .
Ability to travel to campus and off-campus locations as necessary.
Ability to maintain attendance and punctuality standards .
Ability to function effectively both individually, as well as part of a team.
Valid driver's license
