Description of Work:
Responsible for overseeing daily ranch operations, facilitating on-site research, and assisting with range management-based programming at the Barta Brothers Ranch near Rose, NE. Duties include feeding and monitoring cattle, fence and water systems maintenance, weed management, and general upkeep of the facility's buildings, equipment, and vehicles. Assist researchers and students with livestock data collection and identify and provide facility resources as needed to ensure research success. Oversee maintenance of research projects and provide guidance to off-site researchers as needed. Work with Extension faculty and specialists to develop and deliver range management programming to appropriate audiences. Other duties include assisting with budget development and acting as primary contact and coordinator with local ranch land lease holders. A pesticide applicator's license must be obtained within one year of employment.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in range management, animal science, or related field plus three years of work experience in a ranch setting required; family ranch experience considered. Knowledge of cattle handling and rangeland management essential. Experience must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver’s license required.
Master’s degree in range management. Project management and/or supervisory experience.
Posted Salary: $38,000/yr. minimum
