The Administrative Assistant will serve as a critical member of the Department Chair’s administrative team.
Internship & Student Mentoring Support
Maintain internship information specific to the English Department
Maintain communication with internship partners
Monitor alumni email group from survey, passing along internship information to English department internship coordinator
Assist in communicating internship resources to undergraduate and graduate students
Write stories about internships for outreach opportunities and website
Marketing Communications and Public Relations
Develop and coordinate communications and public relations strategy in partnership with department staff and new alumni group (including digital, traditional, social media, events etc.)
Post daily on social media for various subunits of the department, focusing on community engagement and cultivation along with general awareness
Sustain & build upon current website strategies- connecting website with events, podcast, etc.
Manage donor stewardship (thank you letters, follow-up communications on gifts)
Work with Chair’s schedule and Advancement on Chair trips to meet with donors or key alums
Develop list of major conferences and faculty who might attend and to partner with Advancement to match alums with faculty
Coordinate Giving Blue Day & Spring Fundraising solicitation for Chair’s office
Assist Chair in managing & providing support to the 4 EAB working groups
Assist Chair’s office with the annual spring EAB meeting and fall conference call
Website work: collect and post alumni profiles, keep alumni website up-to-date
Experience with maintaining and creating website
Experience with social media marketing and community cultivation
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Prior experience in multitasking while meeting deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
Excellent computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google tools
Degree or background in English Language & Literature
Background in digital, traditional or social media marketing
Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
