The Senior Technical Product Manager, API Platform will be the primary API Platform team liaison to API developers and consumers in support of Harvard's API program. The Senior TPM will have deep knowledge of the API Gateway, API Portal and all related technologies (aka API Platform) and will work with other Platform team members to help deliver on API program KPIs. As a technical leader for the platform, this role is expected to have specific knowledge of both the components of the API management platform as well as the underlying API technologies used to build and deploy end-to-end APIs.
In addition to the technical aspects, a key element to the Senior TPM role is outreach to current and prospective API producers and consumers to develop a deep understanding of stakeholder business needs, and advocate for the continuous improvement of a platform that meets those needs. This includes the creation of producer and consumer onboarding processes, running hackathons and other community events, playing a leadership role in the Data and Integration Community of Practice, creating job aids and a knowledge base for stakeholders, and working with other HUIT service providers to create a training and awareness program.
As a techno-functional lead, the Senior TPM will be working within an Agile team comprising associate directors, project managers, scrum masters, architects and developers to create and deliver a backlog of enhancements and features that continually improves the API platform. This includes providing crucial input from producers and consumers into product road map discussions, as well as providing insight into feature requests from prospective stakeholders that will help drive future use of the platform.
Collaborate with associate director, API product owners, API developers, API consumers, project team and business leads to identify and deploy the optimal architecture, design, and configuration of the API Gateway, API Portal, and related technologies.
Establish engagement framework to improve adoption of the API platform, including job aids, knowledge base, API inventory/catalog, training program, outreach and surveys to capture stakeholder feedback, hackathons, incentives program, etc.
Collect and document stakeholder requirements, and play a leadership role in backlog grooming, prioritization, and sprint and increment planning processes for the API program.
Build, test, and deploy API's and API proxies using API platform tools and technologies.
Keep up to date on latest API Gateway and API Portal trends and come up with innovative solutions to Harvard's business challenges, including rapid prototyping to test new ideas.
Work in Agile environment and contribute to the agile ceremonies.
Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call support rotation as needed

Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
Minimum of seven years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience.
Demonstrated experience working with at least one full-lifecycle API management ecosystem.
Demonstrated working experience of server-side software engineering technologies (Java, Go, Perl, or Python etc).
Minimum of four years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience.
Good understanding of Linux, backend API and API Platform.
Experience with the Apigee platform or comparable platforms is a plus.
Some experience with AWS development and automation tools
Some development experience with maintaining Kubernetes environment is a plus.
B.A./B.S. degree is preferred
