The USC Gould School of Law seeks a full-time Academic Programs Specialist to join its team.Â This is a 6-month fixed-term position.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Academic Operations, the Academic Programs Specialist serves to provide support the Gould School of Lawâs Academic Operations Office (AOPS).Â The AOPS office supports all faculty affairs related duties such as recruitment, onboarding, committee meetings, promotions, dossiers preparation and submittal, joint and courtesy appointments, faculty workshops and speakers, academic research centers, travel, events, and the Juris-in-residence program.
The position requires strong organizational, and analytical skills, including project management, data analysis, and implementation/evaluations skills.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Provides administrative support to faculty chairs, directors and committee members
Serves as the Schoolâs primary liaison for faculty conferences and research centers
Expected to thoroughly learn and understand institutional policies and procedures related to faculty affairs
Works closely with faculty and team leader to coordinate and facilitate events and conferences.
Writing and assembling materials for faculty committees or workshops and conference presenters.
Prepares budget to ensure expenditures are in line with the expectations of the school
Edits and composes documents for communication to internal and external audiences
Other duties may be added as needed
Masterâs Degree (completed or in progress)
3+ years working in higher education
Experience in faculty affairs desired
Advanced technical and computer skills to support administrative functions including MS Office Suite with an emphasis on PowerPoint, Excel and database skills, electronic calendar management, various videoconferencing applications such as Zoom, Skype, and email applications
Strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
Excellent writing skills
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills using sound judgment within policy parameters.
Provides high quality customer service orientation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff; both verbally and in writing, with excellent editing and proofreading ability
Ability to work independently and as a team member
