This position is responsible for the evaluation of transfer credit for the foreign and domestic undergraduate student population and awarding of credit toward graduation for Baruch College. The Coordinator will also provide functional support to the other members of the Transfer Evaluation Team in advising students on the transfer admissions process and transfer policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Senior Transfer Advisor, the Credit Evaluation Coordinator will perform the following duties in addition to the responsibilities listed in the CUNY Title Overview:
-Complete unofficial transfer assessments for prospective foreign or domestic undergraduate students in a precise, timely manner and communicate that information directly to the student.
-Process the official evaluation of external transcripts to determine equivalent transfer credit in accordance with Baruch's transfer credit policies.
-Obtain course descriptions, catalogs, and institutional information via web research, online transfer databases, and contact other colleges and universities for the purpose of making an accurate course match.
-Ensure that official and unofficial transfer credit is quickly, accurately, and completely recorded in the student information systems, and ensure FERPA compliance when providing this information directly to the student.
-Responsible for student I advisor electronic and written correspondence with regard to transcript
evaluation and transfer credit activities.
-Assist with in-house audits of transfer evaluations and student records to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
-Work with the Advisement Team to ensure the accuracy of the requirements and core curriculum data.
Bachelor's Degree required.
-Ability to work evenings and weekends
-Computer literacy and technical proficiency
-Ability to research, interpret, and apply college policies and procedures relating to transfer credits and graduation requirements
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Strong time management, organizational and project management skills
-Ability to adapt to evolving technology, procedures and processes
-Demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives and experiences
-At least one (1) year experience in a higher education setting preferred
-Experience working with transfer credits and transfer credit evaluations preferred
-Experience in course evaluation and transcript analysis preferred
-Experience with curricula and accreditation of international and U.S. institutions preferred
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Coordinates efforts of admissions and/or enrollment offices.
Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students
Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; conducts follow up as needed
Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large
Assists with day-to-day administration and an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling and preparing and distributing materials
Represents the Admission Office to the college's internal and external communities as directed
Maintains and updates program databases, lists and files to ensure completeness and accuracy
Performs related duties as assigned.
