The Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement (CAREI) invites applications for a Researcher 5 position to assist with providing intensive capacity-building supports to two state level education agencies in Wisconsin and Minnesota as part of a large multi-year federal grant. Related service plan activities for state level agencies could include conducting state level needs assessment, developing program evaluation tools, developing logic model toolkits, identifying evidence-based practices, as well as others based on identified priority areas throughout the grant period.
The ideal candidate must be highly organized and skilled in verbal and written communication, and will have the ability to work independently and make decisions within a project. This position will report directly to the Center Director and will assist grant leadership to coordinate neutral and rigorous educational research and evaluation projects as a member of an applied research team.
This is a 100% time, 12-month academic professional position on an annually renewable contract. Annual renewals are subject to a successful performance review and availability of funds. The starting date for this position is open and the salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
Project Management (85%)
Organize project activities using project management software (e.g., Trello)
Monitor progress, facilitate communication and ensure organization across and within projects
Manage project timelines
Coordinate project meeting schedules and manage meeting minutes
Schedule and manage project activities
Supervise planning and scheduling activities
Manage and document procedures for instrument development, data collection, analyses, and reporting
Manage communication with schools and other organizations to coordinate schedules, activities and data collection
Provide technical assistance on projects under the direct supervision of the Center Director
Analyze data, interpret results, and assist with progress reports and development of project deliverables
Manage the work of project personnel
Recruit, supervise and train data collectors (e.g., graduate assistants)
Manage Databases (5%)
Oversee and lead the development and maintenance of relevant databases
MA, MAEd or PhD in an Education, Psychology, Leadership, Evaluation or related field, with a minimum 5 years of experience in applied educational school settings
Demonstrated experience with coordinating activities and producing deliverables involving multiple large and small scale projects implemented simultaneously
Demonstrated experience having excellent time management and organizational skills used to assist in providing high-quality services to educators
Demonstrated experience in data management and coordination/supervision
Demonstrated excellence in communication and writing skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions to keep processes moving forward, as well as work collaboratively as a member of an applied research and evaluation team
Experience in applied research and evaluation in preK-12 education
High level of reliability and capacity to function independently
Highly motivated to execute projects
Experience with evaluation design
Experience in data analysis
Experience in project management
