The position of Systems Engineering Manager is a high level technical management position responsible for managing the health, development and operations of designated systems at the University of Pittsburgh. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Systems Engineering. This positions primary work location resides at the Network Operations Center which is located off-campus at RIDC Park and is staffed 24/7/365 to continuously monitor critical enterprise-wide systems and services.
Responsibilities include supervision of applicable systems engineers as required. Requires extensive technical experience in a multi-platform, large, networked environment. Responsibilities include developing system requirements, functional specifications, problem solving, root cause analyses, and project planning and execution. A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science or related field is preferred.
Must have strong technical management skills and experience with high performance computing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Must have a minimum of five years of management experience in a technical environment preferably in an academic setting. Must have demonstrated extensive experience with project management.
Master's degree preferred with extensive technical systems knowledge. Or equivalent years of experience. Ten years experience working in 24/7 operations in a large, multi-platform, networked environment. Minimum five years technical management experience.
