The NYU CGPH Program on Population Impact, Recovery, and Resilience (PiR2), https://www.nyu-pir2.org, is seeking an exceptional project manager/data scientist interested in supporting cutting-edge public health disaster science. The PiR2 program, led by Dr. David Abramson, applies social science and public health theory and methodology to such disaster science topics as, (1) understanding the impacts of natural, technological, and man-made disasters on population health and well-being; (2) life-course research on the differential impacts of disasters on children, young adults, and seniors; (3) examining the contributions of risk communication, belief systems, and risk perception on protective health behaviors; and (4) formulating models of climate resilience in urban settings.
The role of the PiR2 Project Manager is to support the research activities of the PiR2 research program. This includes project management tasks, data management tasks, and some data analysis tasks.
The successful candidate will be an individual who is comfortable managing multiple research projects simultaneously; is proficient in statistical programs such as Stata and R; is self-motivated, well-organized, and a good manager of self and others; is comfortable learning new statistical and technical programs, including GIS; communicates well with fellow team members; is a good writer; and is a natural problem-solver. Familiarity with database development, survey design and execution, and primary data collection is a plus.
This is a one-year appointment. Continued employment in this position is subject to the availability of grant funding.
Masters-level training in public health, social work, quantitative sciences, public administration, or similar.
