The St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School Advancement Office is responsible for engaging, cultivating and soliciting over 7,000 constituents including alumni, current parents, grandparents, parents of alumni, faculty and staff. The Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations reports to the Senior Director of Advancement Services and serves as the point person for donor communications and relations at the institution, with a focus on impact and gratitude. This individual should be a skilled writer and project manager, focusing on storytelling, recognition and conveyance of impact. They will initiate, plan and oversee all aspects of the Advancement Team's stewardship program. The Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations reports to the Senior Director of Advancement Services and assists other members of the office as needed. This position is a full-time, twelve-month position.
A bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in donor relations, advancement, marketing, or other relevant areas. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer who is flexible and able to collaborate with others in a fast paced environment. This person should possess strong project management skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with the school's internal stakeholders, while maintaining strict confidentiality. Other qualifications include: effective time management skills, proficiency with Google tools, knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other database preferred. Some evening/weekend event support work is expected.
Communications and Reports:
Generate a suite of communications for the Advancement Office, including the annual report, endowment reports, grant follow up materials and other collateral that can serve for both donor stewardship and cultivation;
Draft all acknowledgement letters for The Saints Fund, restricted gifts, major and planned gifts, endowed and campaign gifts and ensure they are received in a timely fashion.
Draft and implement comprehensive stewardship programs, seeking out information that demonstrates the impact of giving for the beneficiaries of support, and educates as to the current needs of the School. Create stewardship plans for various donor constituencies such as first-time donors, young alumni and reunion donors, leadership donors, donors to special funds, loyal donors, multi-year donors, etc. as well as different funds such as endowed, previous capital and major gift efforts and ensure all plans are implemented successfully;
Maintain a list of endowed funds for tracking purposes and publication in annual report; work with the Finance Office to ensure accurate reporting; liaise with departments to ensure endowment spending and compliance.
Lead or assist in donor stewardship and engagement events including the leadership and major gift receptions, the volunteer thank you party, and any other events associated with stewardship and donor relations;
Work to create and augment various giving societies (including loyalty and planned giving), providing courtesies and recognition;
Participate in the design of necessary recognition systems for any major gifts effort and campaign that encourages support and appropriately recognizes leadership giving. Create and maintain appropriate stewardship for existing named spaces, funds and all plaques; serve as principal contact with vendors and school's maintenance staff regarding upkeep of plaques, and other recognition materials;
Serve as a resource for fundraising staff in stewarding their managed prospects, including capturing data into the database that can assist in future stewardship efforts;
Assist in research, when needed, to steward and cultivate donors;
The Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations will be responsible for additional activities as requested by the Chief Advancement Officer and the Senior Director of Advancement Services.
