The National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), located in Arlington, VA, is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of eCYBERMISSION Volunteer Program Specialist. is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of eCYBERMISSION Volunteer Program Specialist. eCYBERMISSION is one of several science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) initiatives sponsored by the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) and administered by NSTA. This is a grant-funded position and is an on-site position. The Volunteer Program Specialist’s job responsibilities: Develop and implement broad-based recruitment strategies to attract and identify eCYBERMISSION volunteers to effectively support program goals and volunteer activities. Achieve assigned recruitment metrics that will meet specific volunteer needs identified by the Project Manager. Through various resource pools, networks and social media, actively engage in direct, focused, targeted volunteer recruiting at Army Research Laboratories (ARL) around the country or local events that support outreach for volunteers. Partner with the Volunteer Outreach Specialist to create new, cohesive outreach and recruitment strategies. Develop, monitor and maintain volunteer database with accurate records of all potential and actual volunteer leads using various volunteer tracking tools. Establish a simple, clear system of communication with volunteers that allows sharing of important information effectively and respond to volunteer queries efficiently. Plan, organize, edit and write parts of the content for a monthly newsletter. Oversee volunteer communications, including discussion forums, team talk and CyberGuide Live Chats. Prepare and maintain monthly reports on specific program volunteer recruitment activities. Other duties as assigned by the eCYBERMISSION Volunteer Program Manager.
Travel required (5 – 10 trips per year anticipated), along with full participation at the annual national event. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution (an equivalent combination of related education and professional experience may be considered). Minimum of 5 – 7 years of relevant experience, to include coordinating and managing a mid- to large size volunteer program in a non-profit organization required. Daily management of 2,000+ skill-based volunteers. Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
