Program Director, ND Innovates (Implementation Focus)
University of Notre Dame
The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Program Director, ND Innovates (Implementation Focus).
Applications will be accepted until 2/24/2020.
Are you a problem solver? Do you enjoy taking an idea and making it real? Do you care about making tangible impact on people's lives? The Innovation Program Director is a founding member of Notre Dame's new solution team known as ND Innovates. The team will serve campus and the mission of the University by empowering cross-functional teams to assess problems, design human-centered solutions, and implement those solutions at scale across campus. The key and inaugural program within ND Innovates will involve partnering with divisions to install innovations and improvements within five areas of focus: Automation, Service Levels, Process, Reorganization, and Shared Services. Although the Program Director will be a key participant in all facets of the innovation process, the focus of this specific position will be the implementation phase. Once problems are assessed and solutions designed, those solutions must be implemented and scaled across campus. The Program Director will lead cross-divisional teams, ensuring effective, timely, successful launches on multiple large projects each year. The Program Director will create customized Implementation playbooks for each project that articulate the methods, resource requirements, sequencing, and timelines for arriving at successful implementation. They will then work with partners to ensure a high standard of execution by keeping the validated business case and solution at the forefront, leaning on skills such as facilitation, stakeholder engagement, accountability creation, and change management. The ability to maintain great relationships, create momentum and buy in, and be unconditionally constructive during long implementations will be critical. While the Program Director will be the internal project manager for the ND Innovates team, they will often empower ND partners to successfully project manage their own pieces during implementations. The Program Director will also participate in the other phases of the innovation process. During the assessment phase, members of the team will lean on skills such as facilitation, logistics, analysis, criteria building, coaching, and more. During the solution design phase, team members will use iterative, human-centered methodologies to deeply understand what end users, service owners, and key stakeholders think excellent looks like, and then build prototypes that validate the solution. Please note that as we grow this team, there are three similar job postings right now. This posting has an implementation focus. One of them, found here http://jobs.nd.edu/postings/18798 has a solution design focus and the other, found here http://jobs.nd.edu/postings/18799 has an assessment/process focus. You do not need to apply to all of these, but you may if you believe you have an experience set that matches more than one. The work of ND Innovates is not for everyone. Implementations will be long. The work will require deep focus and grit. The qualities that will guide the work of ND Innovates are Iteration, Empathy, Candor, Optimism, Humility, Patience, and Courage. ND Innovates also has the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of students. Money saved by implementing innovations will go directly to financial aid for students, particularly to students of lower-income and first generation families.
