Detailed Description: This is a full-time, temporary, benefit based position with an assignment end date of August 31, 2021.
The Project Manager will provide strategic planning and project management for the University's software and SaaS technology implementations, in particular the WorkDay solution, that advances the organizational mission and vision under the direction of the Sr. Director of Enterprise Applications. The position involves leadership and collaboration in the areas of planning, designing, configuring, testing and implementing technology solutions that meet the business needs of the University. This position will oversee and take full ownership of overall project deliverables and milestones to ensure projects are deployed on time, within budget, and according to our expectations.
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the team members assigned to projects in all phases including requirements definition, project estimation, development and update of project plans, facilitation of project meetings, status reporting, resource management, and go live planning. This position works with cross-functional teams, vendors, project sponsors, and other University constituents making sure best practices, change management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) procedures are enforced to ensure the quality, stability and maintainability of our technology environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: Project Management
Plans, schedules and tracks project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Identify and manage project dependencies.
Responsible for day-to-day management and escalation of project risks and issues to Workday, Deployment Partner and internal stakeholders.
Organize and manage all phases of the project to ensure on-time completion within budget.
Work with teams to identify and estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
Communicates and continually manages project expectations with team members, stakeholders/steering committees, deployment partner project managers, and internal teams to ensure a positive, sustainable result.
Ensures that the change management process fits the needs of the organization.
Review all RFC (Request for Change) requests for quality and completeness and work with internal stakeholders to verify if change is actually needed.
Identify change scheduling conflicts and potential impact to other changes.
Ensure that Production Readiness Procedures are followed and the Production Readiness Assessment is completed.
Coordinate the migration of system to production ensuring user acceptance testing and completion of all cutover steps.
Leadership and Managerial Oversight of Project Team
Build teams providing coaching, mentoring, advising and guidance to strengthen balance of knowledge in both functional as well as technical aspects.
Delegate and prioritize tasks and projects in an effective manner, aligning them with the project's goals in an environment of competing deadlines and changing priorities.
Actively participate in developing change management and other departmental processes to ensure the efficient completion of the project.
Develop personal as well as team's systems expertise by promoting continuous self-learning and ensuring team completes required training.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
Create special white papers as needed.
Bring best practices and leadership tools to projects.
Work with Change Management team on email marketing campaigns, events and other content -
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline; Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
Minimum five years of business management or project management experience that demonstrates progressive responsibility in project leadership. Experience in a higher educational environment is preferred.
Performance Expectations - Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Proven track record of successfully implementing large scale ERP systems such as Oracle e-Business Suite (EBS), WorkDay, or Salesforce.
Previous experience in the Workday implementation methodology.
Solid understanding of Workday HCM, and/or Financials.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively with people at all levels and cross functionally within an organization.
Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment showing ability to influence and establish good working relationships with technical resources, technical managers, business units, vendors, senior executives, faculty, and university constituents.
Clearly demonstrated ability to multi task and work in a collaborative team environment and to work cooperatively with others.
Demonstrated organizational abilities including setting goals, plans, and priorities, to achieve results.
