The Vice President of Communications will serve as a senior leader responsible for day-to-day oversight of Communications Department within the Division of Marketing & Communications. Responsibilities include executive and internal communications, and media relations. Plays critical strategic and operational role in situations that impact the University's reputation and brand. Serves as a communications advisor to senior leaders, including guiding and preparing key messages, events and communications. The Vice President provides strategic and operational oversight for communications to key internal and external stakeholders. Develops, guides and writes critical communication messages to ensure clarity among campus constituencies and effectively position the University externally. Plays lead role in developing University's communications platform around issues facing Syracuse University and higher education as a whole. Serves as a spokesperson for the University. The Vice President will build on the momentum and success of the Communications Department by continuing to garner strategic media relations coverage as part of larger integrated marketing and communications plans. Partners with the SAVP of Communications to ensure partners across the University are communicating in consistent, cohesive and compelling ways. Ensures effective integration of communications into broader marketing campaigns and plans related to strategic initiatives. Guides 10+ person communications team in providing and implementing strategic communications recommendations for more than 50 priority initiatives annually that require deep coordination across marketing and communications channels.
