ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2 , Mechanical Engineering , to support the daily administrative operations for a faculty member, his laboratory, and an industry research consortium he directs. Principal duties include providing financial support (budgeting, approvals, reconciliation); project support (stewarding multipronged projects to completion by working with diverse MIT stakeholders); event planning and execution (both large and small events, held both at MIT and off-site); and other miscellaneous tasks related to personnel, space management, and contract management. Will assist with the preparation and organization of materials for courses; prepare and monitor project timelines; maintain website content; gather information from multiple sources to develop budgets; assist with the review and processing of contracts; and develop an in-depth understanding of MIT policies and procedures, the language of advanced manufacturing, and MIT's initiatives in the space.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a high school diploma; at least three years' office or related experience; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, own and execute complex tasks with minimal supervision, prioritize and problem solve, demonstrate initiative in implementing new procedures to enhance productivity, and lift and carry weights of up to 50 lbs. PREFERRED : basic competency with digital design tools, data collection tools, and digital marketing tools; and knowledge of and/or interest in 3D printing/additive manufacturing processes and applications, manufacturing practice or theory, digital design, or "making."
