Charlotte Latin School is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible Upper School Educational Technology Technologist who will work alongside teachers and students to inspire and support effective uses of technology for teaching, learning, and assessment. Preference will be given to candidates who have utility and experience across a variety of academic disciplines. This position begins July 2020.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with Upper School colleagues to design and implement uses of Educational Technology that enhance teaching while also engaging and extending student learning.
Teach 1-2 Upper School classes as well as facilitate or coach an extracurricular activity.
Coordinate Digital Citizenship and information literacy education in grades 9-12 and help teachers infuse these subjects into their curricular areas.
Identify Professional Development needs for US Faculty; provide both 1:1 support and group training for Upper School faculty in needed areas as well as the School’s LMS, iPads, MacBooks, and the Google Suite for Education.
Support Upper School faculty through modelling best practices for tech use, mentoring, assisting with app selection and setups,and troubleshooting EdTech-related problems.
Serve as a member of the K-12 EdTech Department, performing the following:
Support the department’s Mission, Vision, & Values.
Evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of current and future uses of Educational Technology and advise administration on best EdTech policies and practices.
Research and propose new technologies that enhance teaching and learning.
Assist in aligning EdTech practices with ISTE standards for teachers and students.
Collaborate with the Information Technology Services Dept. and the Lower and Middle Schools.
Provide training and support at both New Faculty and Student Orientations.
Comply with School policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s in educational practice preferred.
Five-plus years of well-rounded experience in education, ideally in an independent school. .
At least three years working as a classroom teacher, ideally in an upper school.
Experience working in an Educational Technology position or 1:1 as an instructional coach.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Adherence to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and maturity.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment in providing services based on goals.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve.
Expertise in Google applications as well as Mac and iPad technology.
Patience for working with students and teachers of varying technical skill levels.
Pedagogical expertise and comfort leading a class of high school students.
Ability to keep current with updates and trends in Educational Technology.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
