Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist I C/W for Rutgers New Brunswick Campus. This position reports to the Creative Manager. The Edit/Media Specialist I C/W is responsible for creating, writing, and editing content for a wide range of communications initiatives, in support of the R-Comm department creative strategy and objectives, and in alignment with the University's mission and goals.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for transforming ideas into creative concepts, in partnership with designers, digital, print ads,emails websites, print collateral publications, presentations, newsletters, marketing campaigns, and other campus wide communications.
Works on large and small-scale marketing projects such as visualizing ad campaigns, marketing brochures, email marketing, websites, and persuasive literature to capture chosen audiences.
Explores different ideas and concepts for both the visual and verbal elements in tandem with the creative team.
Stays abreast of market trends and research peer schools and universities.
Reviews, proofs, and edits content for accuracy, errors, consistency, and writing style.
Ensures each project is reviewed, proofread, and critically details each production project for consistency of formatting and style.
Assists the department with preparation of Chancellor speeches and presentations.
Works closely with designers to ensure all projects follow university style, visual identity, editorial standards, and approved copyright guidelines.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in Communications, English, PR, or a related field;or and equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two years successful proven experience copywriting, speech writing, campaign creation, brand strategy in a high-paced organization or institution.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be detail orientated, skilled multitasker, and work well under pressure.
Must be able to meet deadlines
Must have strong communication skills
Experience at an institution of higher education and health care is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
May be requested to work off-peak hours for special events.
Occasional intercampus travel required.
