POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the Laboratory Director, the project manager will be responsible for managing overall project flow and priorities in a laboratory conducting multiple research projects on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism using stable isotope techniques. The candidate must be experienced with GC/MS, LC/MS, and sample preparation. Responsibilities include overseeing and training of lab technicians and assistants on laboratory protocols and procedures; managing overall workflow in the laboratory, including prioritization of laboratory projects; performing sample preparation; scheduling lab and equipment use time for the staff; purchasing lab supplies and reagents; maintaining equipment; coordinating data management and delivery; and overseeing the performance of laboratory technicians and assistants. The project manager will also ensure that all activities are in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Advanced degree in science or related discipline;
Previous experience in mass spectrometry methods
3+ years of management or supervisory experience
Effective data handling, document control, and technical bench skills
Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
