Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Communications Specialist III for the Office of the Dean – Marketing and Communications within the School of Public Health.
The Communications Specialist III will be responsible for assisting with the execution of the School's communication and engagement strategy and developing written content for distribution.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists with School of Public Health communication efforts including communications within the School, throughout Rutgers University, and to various external stakeholders.
Coordinates external communications efforts with the Rutgers University-wide Office of University News and Media Relations.
Develops clear and accessible language for messaging through Op-Eds, articles, research/policy briefs, blog posts, etc.
Assists with the maintenance of the school's website and social media content.
Promotes SPH faculty, student, and staff publications to secure placements among top-tier print and electronic outlets.
Monitors news outlets to identify and capitalize upon media and advocacy opportunities.
Assists the Manager of Marketing with tracking all media coverage and identifying promotional opportunities.
Creates innovative visual and audio content for digital distribution, as assigned.
Assists with the creation of annual reports or special edition reports, policies, trainings and plans.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Marketing or a related field.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Excellent organization, planning, project management, and problem solving skills.
Must have professional writing experience, familiarity with audio/video production, a solid knowledge of the current social media landscape (twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) and WordPress training.
Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines.
Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and understanding of website management and publishing, social media management and digital marketing reporting.
Must be comfortable with social media applications and website management.
One (1) year of professional, related experience.
Experience at an institution of higher education or a research center.
Knowledge of topics related to public health.

Salary: PS 19 scale: $48,116-$67,875
