As a senior member of the Loyalty Finance Business Partnership (FBP) team, the VP and Associate Finance Business Partner-Loyalty Performance (“Loyalty Performance FBP”) will lead the analysis and financial performance management of the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program.
The Loyalty Performance FBP will have responsibility for this business function and related programs and services and will partner with the Vice President & Senior FBP-Loyalty and VP Loyalty Program Controller in the development, implementation and ongoing oversight of financial and operational business strategies and controls. He/She will also provide financial leadership and support for Loyalty Fraud and Risk activities. He/She must possess strong financial analysis, technical accounting, financial and project management expertise, outstanding communication skills and be able to provide day-to-day leadership to all aspects of Loyalty performance functions ensuring that both the Vice President & Senior FBP-Loyalty and business leaders remain regularly apprised and informed of all key issues.
The Loyalty Performance FBP must be adept at tapping diverse sources of information, identifying profitable opportunities, anticipating challenges, enabling and encouraging innovation, and devising and executing breakthrough strategies to deliver against current and future business priorities, thereby strengthening Marriott’s competitive advantage through excellence in financial management.
Assume responsibility for key financial and operational aspects of the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty program performance
Lead Loyalty Performance team to provide analysis and financial oversight of program performance including development and implementation of key metrics (Cost-per-Kilopoint, Funding-per-Kilopoint, channel mix, customer/partner margin analysis, redemption rates/breakage, etc.) and partner with Loyalty business leadership to implement program adjustments that ensure the long-term financial health of the Program.
Develop and implement monthly dashboard to provide overview/snapshot of Loyalty performance including key financial and operational metrics.
Provide financial guardianship of the Loyalty program including ensuring long-term economic viability of the program. Lead and partner with the Loyalty team to own and execute annual policy decisions over hotel billing and reimbursement, category setting and other levers to promote the overall financial health of the program. Provide financial oversight and support in the development of new program features, brand extensions and new partnerships.
Support the budget/Long Range Planning (LRP) model for Loyalty and lead annual processes, partnering with Global Finance and Consumer Operations stakeholders. This includes assisting with the development and presentation of Quarterly Business Reviews for the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program with senior executives including the CFO, CEO, CCO, etc.
Design the business “operating model” and processes for internal and external fraud controls that minimize the total cost of fraud - losses, labor, and the Member experience.
Lead the Loyalty Fraud and Risk Governance council, ensuring visibility and proper management of risks across all aspects of the program (e.g., financial, regulatory, technology).
Act as the liaison with hotels, Continent leaders and Owner and Franchise Billing (OFB); provide financial leadership on owner facing issues including base rates, reimbursement rates, category changes, charge-outs, budget instructions, etc.
Partner with the Loyalty program and Data Analytics team leaders to reevaluate and, where required, restructure the analytical resources, tools, methodologies, protocols, etc. for maximum effectiveness and accountability.
Translate business priorities and new programs and services requirements into financial plans, actions, work product and appropriate funding sources to drive maximum value and to mitigate risk for Marriott.
Proactively forecast, monitor and measure the financial performance of the Loyalty program, and develop actionable recommendations to address identified business challenges and opportunities.
Manage key financial business processes within Consumer Operations and ensuring sound decision making around the Consumer Operations financial objectives; leveraging appropriate capabilities and identifying process improvement opportunities with key partners within Global Finance and Consumer Operations.
Maintain and continually enhancing the appropriate control environment for Consumer Operations; monitoring and recommending actions to improve accountability for results, controls, processes and organization (in collaboration with the VP Loyalty Controller). Maintain strong relationships with Consumer Operations business leaders, Global Finance leaders and other key stakeholders in order to effectively influence key business decisions and financial outcomes; optimize overall work effectiveness.
Champion leadership development and workforce planning priorities by personally assessing, selecting, retaining and developing diverse, high-caliber talent that can lead the organization today and strengthen the leadership bench for the future. Work with Vice President & Senior FBP-Loyalty and Human Resources to anticipate future talent needs based on business growth plans and allocates resources appropriately.
Key Talents and Experience
Extensive (minimum 10 years) broad financial management and analysis experience in a global organization with increasing management responsibility, including business strategy, complex valuations/investment analysis and financial modeling development and implementation.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a management role; demonstrated success leading and developing others in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment.
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Demonstrated ability to formulate creative solutions to highly complex business issues to mitigate risks and maximize shareholder value.
Knowledge of aspects of the Loyalty program strongly preferred.
In depth knowledge of MI business model.
Strong interpersonal skills; must be a successful “networker”, both internally and externally; role requires considerable liaison with multiple stakeholders and maintenance of considerable internal and external relationships.
Skillful negotiator in tough situations; sells ideas persuasively; settles differences and wins concessions without damaging relationships; can be both direct and forceful while remaining diplomatic.
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with proven analytical skills and an understanding of economic valuation theories and processes; ability to take large volumes of complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner to senior management, owners and franchisees; uses data and a cogent problem- solving methodology in decision making and impact assessment.

Education and Professional Certification
Baccalaureate degree in Finance or related discipline required.
MBA in Finance or CPA strongly preferred.
