The Visual Arts teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth; and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success. This position will teach several sections of Upper School Visual Arts Courses, including possible teaching assignments in 2D Studio, AP Art History and Digital Photography.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement inquiry-based instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
Prepare course materials such as syllabi, unit plans, homework assignments, and assessments ensuring completion of the curriculum
Provide students with ongoing and effective feedback about their work which includes group and peer critique, guided self-evaluation and criterion-based rubrics
Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction with guidance from the Department Chair
Maintain effective and timely record-keeping procedures using educational technology. ?
Communicate effectively, in both speech and writing, with students, parents, and other ?professionals on a regular basis through our educational management system ?
Use effective classroom management techniques to ensure effective learning
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by school
Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
1-3 years teaching experience
Experience teaching AP Art History and Digital Photography preferred
Excellent organizational skills
Clear written and oral communication skills
