The George Mason University Office of Communication and Marketing invites applications for a Human Resources Coordinator. The Human Resources Coordinator position is critical to the Office of Communications and Marketing and oversees all personnel related functions for the department. The incumbent will provide instruction and guidance to the department for a range of personnel functions along with serving as a liaison between the departments' supervisors, employees, and the university's central Human Resources Department.
Managing human resources functions, including all recruitment, hiring, terminations, and personnel actions;
Functioning as the search committee coordinator for all departmental searches;
Direct the development and administration of the department onboarding program, orientation, training, and performance evaluation processes;
Disseminating HR-related information within the department;
Supervision of student support staff;
Establishing and maintaining an organized and confidential personnel records management system;
Assisting as needed with general and special projects.
Significant demonstrated experience coordinating human resources functions for a department or unit;
Must be an independent, assertive self-starter;
Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, project management and problem-solving skills;
Ability to perform efficiently in an active, priority-changing atmosphere;
High level of professionalism and confidentiality, along with initiative and good judgment is essential;
Experience with records management, and the ability to protect and ensure the confidentiality of employee data;
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented organization;
High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse audience;
Demonstrated service-oriented approach;
Proven ability to work cooperatively with all levels of executives, faculty, staff, students, and the public;
Attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and ensure deadlines are met;
Ability to keep track of delegated tasks and team assignments, while ensuring project schedules are maintained;
Ability to work independently and take direction from others, anticipate and resolve problems with limited supervision.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
Demonstrated experience supporting human resources functions preferably in an institution of higher education;
Demonstrated experience providing senior-level administrative support (five years is preferred);
Previous experience working in a Virginia state agency is highly desired;
Completion of the PHR certification highly desired;
Experience working with PeopleAdmin and Ellucian Banner.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
