The Security Senior Service Technician is responsible for supporting physical security infrastructure systems and projects. The focus of this role is to proactively maintain operational quality, compliance and performance of physical security technology solutions through day-to-day repairs, maintenance, preventive maintenance and upgrades. Working collaboratively with the Security Infrastructure team, security integration resources, officer staff and SPE trades as necessary to achieve the goals of the position. Compliance activities include both adhering to set policies and controls while ensuring that physical security guidelines are maintained for quality and continuity in day-to-day operational activities.
Service & Repair
Uses solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
Familiarity with network structure, design, connectivity and IP addresses required.
Performs all work in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
Familiarity with and follows safety guidelines including OSHA required.
Able to safely use ladders and operate scissor and articulating lifts.
Supports the Security Infrastructure Group team members with any requirements based on operational needs.
Installs, programs, tests, repairs and services a variety of IP-based and analog security systems and electronic hardware including access control, IP/analog video, IP/analog intercoms and intrusion/perimeter detection.
Able to install and properly mount network accessories (i.e. cameras, readers, intercoms, mounts, brackets, etc.).
Reads basic blueprints, schematics, manuals and other specifications to determine installation procedures.
Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments, hand tools and power tools.
Operates systems to demonstrate functionality, assists in the commissioning of new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions.
Takes ownership of projects including safety, quality and performance.
Communicates effectively with Design Engineering, Project Management and other team members and leadership.
Works closely with the security team and assists in the overall coordination of small projects.
Makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve processes and procedures.
Mechanical Security Equipment
Experience with gate operators a plus.
Experience with barrier arms/gates a plus.
Experience with mechanical turnstiles a plus.
Experience with optical turnstiles a plus.
8+ years of related experience
High School Diploma
Certifications: Lenel Access Control, Genetec Video Management, Genetec Access Control and Bosch Intrusion System with solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
Advanced knowledge of physical security terminology and operations.
Understands the specifications and capabilities of Sony, Hanwha, Axis and Bosch video cameras, 2N intercom and Code Blue emergency phone system.
Basic project management principles.
Capable of utilizing advanced deductive reasoning skills to overcome operational challenges.
Can quickly learn new hardware and systems.
Capable of using most common desktop productivity applications (i.e. MS Office Suite).
Uses common security software tools such as access control, video management, visitor management, parking management, key systems, intercoms, etc.
Understands as-builts and other technical documents.
Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
