Reporting to the Chief IT Operations Officer, the IT Operations Manager - Communications will provide a wide range of operational and administrative support to the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) IT team. The successful candidate will assist with and advocate for the use of healthcare technology to support the clinical, academic and research entities of Columbia University Medical Center.
You will be part of a newly formed role in IT Operations which is charged with building and driving a communications strategy at the intersection of 1) Performance Management (prioritizing our Key Metrics and making them clear, transparent and actionable) 2) Analytics (communicating IT operations and IT performance and making it accessible and visualizing insights in order to drive decision-making) and 3) Ongoing Communications, through consistent messaging to CUIMC IT users. As the Communications Operations Manager you will be responsible for creating and driving CUIMC IT communications strategy and implementation. You will work closely with CUIMC IT leadership to align CUIMC IT communications across CUIMC and internally within the CUIMC IT organization.
You should be a strategic thinker who can strike the balance between depth & breadth by understanding our key Operations metrics and elevating the right high-level strategy and insights. The right candidate is both an independent driver and cross-functional team engager. Expectations are that you will work closely with each of our CUIMC IT Leadership directors and will report progress to them and our CIO.
Develop a communications strategy in coordination with CUIMC IT leadership that outlines how we will use and articulate key metrics in IT operations - 10%
Develop a 1- and 3-year communications roadmap in coordination with CUIMC IT leadership; partner with CUIMC IT leadership to clarify and prioritize our key metrics and set targets that drive positive business results - 10%
Clearly articulate CUIMC IT metrics and the business case for performance on each metric (5%)
Partner with CUIMC IT leadership to develop a process and framework for the team to regularly report on these metrics - 10%
Monitor best practice approaches to business KPIs, performance management and reporting results. Introduces these practices to CUIMC IT leadership and coordinate with the Chief Administrative Officer and CUIMC IT HR to implement metrics for performance bonus structure - 10%
Manage performance management governance around KPIs, metrics, targeting, and results measurement - 5%
Prepare and facilitate IT Executive and IT internal meetings to review and discuss progress, wins, and opportunities - 5%
Prepare materials for CUIMC leadership as needed to facilitate communications on key initiatives - 10%
Work with our Analytics team to communication IT opportunities through data and visualization - 10%
Draft communications and create PowerPoint presentations - 10%
Create training material including training manuals, tip sheets, other educational materials, create agendas and take minutes as needed - 10%
Additional responsibilities as assigned - 5%
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 4 years related experience in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to lead, interact, communicate and teach effectively with multiple disciplines within the medical center - physicians, nurses, office managers etc.
