Originally established in 1848 as the New England Female Medical College, and incorporated into Boston University in 1873, Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) today is a leading academic medical center with an enrollment of more than 700 medical students and 950 students pursuing degrees in graduate medical sciences. BUSM faculty contribute to more than 668 active grants and contracts, with total anticipated awards valued at more than $693 million in amyloidosis, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, infectious diseases, pulmonary disease and dermatology, among other areas. The School's teaching affiliates include Boston Medical Center, its primary teaching hospital, the Boston VA Healthcare System, Kaiser Permanente in northern California, as well as Boston HealthNet, a network of 15 community health centers.
A key member of the communications team, the Communications Manager serves as the content gatekeeper. The incumbent will write and design compelling print and digital communications collateral for Boston University School of Medicine and BU Medical Campus that can be deployed across all communications channels. The office is deadline driven and operates as a fast-paced in-house agency.
Create visually appealing communications deliverables for print and web, such as special event announcements, workshop invitations, brochures, reports, etc.
Serve as electronic content editor for BUMC/BUSM websites.
Provide strategy and content ideas for BUSM social media channels/program.
Write feature articles for BU Medicine , the School's magazine which is produced twice a year.
Write and produce weekly news and events emails for BUSM, BUMC.
Manage digital signage program.
Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5-8 years of experience required; Master's degree preferred. Familiarity with health care and/or academic medicine a plus.
Outgoing personality who enjoys a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and oral skills; must be proficient at multi-tasking; possess excellent time management skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Photography, video editing and production skills required. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Issuu/FlippingBook, WordPress.
