The Database Administrator IV, under general direction, provides technical leadership and oversight for the deployment and delivery of enterprise-wide routine data management and administration projects or services. Develops technical standards for implementing these services. Serves as chair or senior member of an information resource team responsible for setting technical standards and direction. This position is responsible for the creation, support, and administration of Oracle and other databases (such as SQL & MySql databases) on LINUX and Windows platforms. This position will also recommend and establish standards, policies, and procedures for database construction and use, and programming and application administration. Participates in mentoring, training, and development of other employees.
This position typically works Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. â“ 5 p.m. On call and after hoursâ™ support is required.
Responsible for the architecture design, installation, development, integration, testing, documentation, monitoring, configuration management, forecasting disaster recovery/business continuity and ongoing maintenance of Oracle and other databases (such as SQl, MySQL) required by A&M-SA applications, and ancillary software. Establish the standards and processes used to document database administration methods and security procedures. Establish standards for documenting database problems, recoveries, and repairs.
Schedule and implement major and minor software releases as well as emergency service and/or security packs. Work with appropriate Information Technology (IT) areas to maintain necessary security levels. Coordinate additional hardware, network, and/or software infrastructure components and their inter dependencies and works with project teams to provide hardware / software requirements.
Responsible for planning, developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the supported databases and system application environments as well as implementing best practice methodologies.
Support and develop security for all database developers and users. Provide access by assigning roles and maintaining security for auditing purposes. Coordinate, administrate, and manage the database environments.
Develop and implement standards and guidelines for platform usage and administration.
Responsible for the database and all components disaster recovery and business continuity planning, procedures implementation/operations/maintenance, testing and documentation.
Responsible for development, implementation for scripting, processes and links that are required for the database to perform as required by the application(s) it supports. Implement databases, processes, monitoring tools and other Database related software required or related to Databases such as the Oracle Suite of products to include Oracle Enterprise Manager).
Establish standards, policies, and procedures for application and database construction and use. Implement and follows these procedures. Tune and integrate the physical database structures for the most efficient utilization of the database.
Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement hardware and software requirements and maintains a robust, highly available, and redundant infrastructure.
Develop and provide management reporting and dashboard of database performance and other key information as defined.
Coordinate enterprise-level database performance monitoring activities. Monitor environments proactively for capacity and performance related issues and takes steps necessary to address them. Monitor and respond to notification-related aspects of the Database environments. Develop, maintain, and document processes and procedures for 24/7 monitoring of health, utilization, and performance across all assigned platforms. Interface with central monitoring facility to coordinate installation and configuration of monitoring software across all assigned systems.
Generate and provide routine and ad hoc reports to management. Provide consulting to application owners and end users regarding the use of monitoring facilities on assigned systems.
Ensure system integrity by configuring and maintaining proper security safeguards. Monitor system resource usage and performance. Create and maintain user access accounts.
Maintain understanding of the IT architecture strategy and long-term goals. Assist in product evaluations of applications, tools, and utilities to support the enterprise architecture.
Act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent. Communicate openly and effectively with a large base of both internal and external customers. Establish standards for the development of plans for new databases or upgrades. Oversee input from clients, developers, systems administrators, and vendors to develop specifications and plans for enterprise-level databases.
Use A&M-SA IT ticketing system for managing work to includes Change, Incidents, and Requests.
Lead and participate in projects. Oversee and coordinate work of contractors as required.

Education & Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree in applicable field and eight years of related experience in data management.Â
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) architecture, application of systems theory, advanced negotiation skills, enterprise-level operations, multi-team leadership/coordination, advanced project management, sourcing skills, advanced vendor relations, and advanced business acumen.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
