Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (“CFP Board”) – headquartered in Washington, D.C. – is the certifying body for financial planning professionals. It is a non-profit organization that fosters professional standards in personal financial planning through its setting and enforcement of the education, examination, experience, ethics, and other requirements for the CFP® certification.
CFP Board seeks a highly motivated Manager, Firm Relations to support business development initiatives through management and implementation of firm-specific programs, campaigns, events and communications. Assist in the development of new content and programs to drive new and existing CFP® certificants at firms. The ideal candidate will embrace open collaboration, possess intellectual curiosity and help the organization deliver results towards fulfilling our mission.
Initiates and manages projects to create firm-related activities or products that drive growth of new CFP® certificants and supports existing CFP® certificants at major firms
Develops strong productive relationships with firm contacts and other stakeholders
Creates presentations, tracks and analyzes firm data internally to aid CFP Board leadership in making strategic decisions
Assists with analysis and research of industry trends and data
Identifies secondary research data and manages research programs, such as white papers, which advance the organizational mission
Creates and implements communications to key stakeholders at firms
Develops content for webinars and the website
Understands CFP Board’s market, anticipates future market needs and advocates for programs to meet identified needs
Manages Corporate Relations’ budgets and takes appropriate action on identified issues
Oversees Corporate Relations’ conference exhibits calendar, manages staffing needs and shipping logistics, selection of conferences for best ROI; develops agenda and assist with speaker selections and initiates programs to drive lead generation that are aligned with the organizational goals and objectives
Manages additional events and projects as needed, including the Financial Advice Working Group and firm involvement at the Registered Program Conference
Manages schedule of Managing Director to include meetings support, calendar management, travel and expenses support
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications or related field
Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing projects and programs
Previous experience in corporate relationship management or sales
Meetings/exhibits experience is a plus
Proficiency in MS Office, with demonstrated success in developing compelling presentations
Effective calendar management skills
Ability to think strategically and critically
Excellent time and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to oversee, interpret and utilize effective research and data
Exposure to retail financial services industry and knowledge of financial services industry trends
