Engineering Team Lead directly or indirectly manages a team of engineering, project management, administrative and design personnel to achieve revenue, gross margin, customer satisfaction index targets and other business objectives within the Forest Products and Converting industry business. Manages a multi-disciplined team to deliver projects on time and in or under budget. Additionally, this position requires team resource planning such as assigning direct reports to projects, assessing staffing levels and utilization among other duties.
Provide leadership and mentorship for all direct team members
Must drive engineering system designs to achieve industry required uptime and ability to run 24/7.
The Team Lead will support the Solution Consultant team on relevant industry proposals. This includes providing Engineering estimates and technical input & oversight for all proposals within their industry segment
Extensive knowledge of Paper & Converting Drive applications, equipment selection & associated control system design
Establishes clear team expectations and holds team accountable for performance and behaviors.
Review engineering team design input and output for technical completeness and correctness.
Ensures that customer requirements are clearly described in the functional specifications that convey project requirements
Maintain and monitor workload and manpower schedules for team members
Works with direct reports to address training gaps and career development
Monitors performance and completes review of all mid-year and end of year PADRs, as well as merit and incentive planning for their team members
The Team Lead could also function as a System Engineer on a project where required.
Analyzes customer's requirements to determine the optimal control system solution and determines applicable hardware and software control configuration/architecture
Performs conceptual hardware systems design, determination of control system strategy to meet customers' requirements while complying with industry codes/standards and assure that personnel/machinery safety practices are implemented
Write technical specifications and project reports as required
Build relationships and partners across the organization at all levels

Responsible for all team members' general compliance for general duties such as adherence to quality processes, company training, time recording, etc.
Timely completion of company training (Safety, Ethics, role specific) and project time recording
Understand the expectations of the position and time commitments in order to complete tasks on-time
Attends, participates in the preparation and presentation of technical papers in industry symposiums and trade shows, as applicable
Direct interface with customer and suppliers for all technical aspects
Possible overtime during critical project/proposal activities or personnel issues.
