Perform variety of duties necessary to operate digital printing equipment involving color and b/w operations as well as large format printing. Working knowledge of multiple design software to accept and alter files for print is essential. Functional contacts include co-workers, other university staff and students, outside customers and print vendors.
Operate and maintain digital printing equipment, including color, b/w, and large format output, including cleaning sensors and replacing ink, web assembly, drum, staples, bookstaples, printer heads as needed to ensure top quality of printed materials. Mounted large format posters, and utilizing variable data in printing may be required at times.
Maintain daily work flow by creating a timeline of jobs to be completed based upon job parameters including due date, size of job, and materials needed to complete, to ensure that the work flow of each job is seamless and due dates are met. Evaluate whether costs of job are beneficial to complete in-house. Create in-house job tickets with job estimations, and bid requests with outside vendors as needed.
Work closely with campus customers, outside customers, and team members through phone/email messages to convey ideas, cost-saving measures, budget information, and estimated delivery times to ensure their job accuracy and completion.
Expert knowledge needed in both Mac and PC computer programs used in composing typeset/designed materials or accepting make-ready materials from customers including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Update computer software frequently, and archive jobs for future use.
Performs other duties as assigned, which may include bindery operations and/or deliveries as needed.
Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds.
4 years of print operations experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of experience and training in type composition for printing.
Familiarity with the Konica Accurio Press C2070 is a plus.
Familiarity with and ability to interpret standard proofreading symbols.
Skill in the operation of typesetting equipment to which assigned.
Good finger dexterity; normal eyesight.
Ability to work with speed and accuracy.
Ability to discern information from communications, document jobs precisely, and calculate job pricing accurately..
$15.72 - $18.00/hour
