The Student Services Professional 2 serves as business and operational support for the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s undergraduate and graduate programs and coordinator for the College of Science and Engineering’s Co-op program. This role includes timely and efficient administration, organization, and implementation of the programs and projects lead by the Student Services office.
Student Services Program Support (50%) Provide quality and professional support for the day-to-day functions of the ME undergraduate and graduate program. These responsibilities include managing student related inquiries, program communications, processing paperwork and applications, preparing official correspondence, maintaining student records, course administration and data compilation. Other areas of support include special projects and events and activities designed for recruitment of new students, retention of current students, and engagement with alumni.
Outreach & Engagement Program Coordination (50%) Coordinates and manages the functions of these outreach and engagement programs: Engineering Co-op, ME3 REU, ME GO MN Program, including, but not limited to: program design, development, and implementation; utilize existing systems and procedures; process applications and admissions; communications and engagement with internal and external stakeholders; event coordination; editing and maintaining program websites; social media promotions; course management; leverage other departmental and college offices such as finance, administration, communications.
Essential qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years. Previous professional customer-service experience working with students, confidential data, and communications in higher education setting. Proficient time and project management skills. Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, think critically, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment. Acute attention to detail. Support for occasional weeknight and weekend events.
Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated education and outreach project and program coordination, and public relations/event planning experience. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products. Competent with Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to develop and edit websites. Knowledge of Astra, PeopleSoft, EFS, Qualtrics, and/or Canvas. Flexibility to learn new technologies and systems.
