Stanford's School of Engineering seeks a Building Manager with experience managing a large, interdisciplinary facility with complex instrumentation and labs. The Building Manager supports all building residents and works as part of a collaborative team of building managers, safety specialists, project managers, and the SEQ Contact Center. Although each Building Manager has a primary facility in which he/she resides and focuses, they participate in regular cross training, and provide back-up coverage for each other.
The Building Manager will have primary responsibility for the Durand building.With more than 116,000 square feet of space, Durand is the home of the Aeronautical and Astronautics & Materials Science and Engineering departments, with labs, classrooms, offices, and student spaces.Are you able to facilitate moderately complex construction and renovation projects, make enhancements to facilities procedures and provide a high level of customer service?This may be the right fit for you!
Your responsibilities include:
Serving as the operations / maintenance point of contact for the building. This includes the initiation and monitoring of work requests, coordinating and monitoring routine maintenance services completion, and examining and reporting related trends. You will identify, recommend & implement building operations & process modifications to the facility for increased productivity and/or cost reduction, and synchronize maintenance and other logistics to avoid conflicts.
Coordinating projects by performing the assigned tasks within larger projects and overseeing and executing small, local projects including their organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
Implementing facility security programs by developing procedures/practices, distributing keys, providing building access, monitoring access records, and assessing and changing access schedules
Managing property administration by approving purchase orders and receiving specific items; continual tagging, record keeping; and completing scheduled inventory.
Coordinating with the school's safety specialists to: correct identified safety issues, identify and track corrective actions; develop and conduct safety training and/or new employee facility orientation; and maintain and participate in emergency preparedness, recovery and business continuity coordination.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
A Bachelor's degree and five years related, demonstrated technical facilities management experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Analytical skills to analyze and track complex space, equipment and financial data.
Interpersonal skills and judgment to interact effectively with a broad range of people, including faculty and vendors, both individually and in groups.
Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects with competing priorities, meet deadlines and project plans with short- and long-term end dates.
Working knowledge of applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Experience working with internal and external vendors and services contracting.
Background knowledge of safe handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous waste; emergency preparedness plans and their implementation; and property administration specific to PO tracking, receiving, and inventory control.
