Reporting to and working closely in partnership with the Director of Information Security, the Information Security Systems Administrator (ISSA) will build, configure, administer, update, monitor, manage, and use the systems designed to protect and defend the universityâ€™s information systems resources and environment against all threats and vulnerabilities. The ISSA will also be responsible for working with other systems administrators and technical staff to configure existing and new systems in alignment with best security practices. The ideal candidate will be highly customer focused, understand the people-process-technology security paradigm, work well in a team environment, and hold themselves to the highest levels of confidentiality and ethical standards.
Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
Build, configure, administer, update, monitor, manage, and use systems and system components designed to monitor and ensure the ongoing security of IT resources. Support ongoing operations surrounding vulnerability analysis, data access control systems, intrusion defense and analysis, and backup and disaster recovery plans.
Identify and remediate extant and potential vulnerabilities.
Detect and defend against extant and potential digital security breaches.
Participate in the research, evaluation, and testing of the security features and functionality for new and existing/evolving cloud and on-premises services and technologies.
Participate in the response to any information security incident.
Maintain current expert working knowledge of information security best practices and how they relate to protecting information resources in a university environment.
The nature of this position requires on-call availability.
