GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vice President for Finance and Operations serves as the chief fiscal and operations officer for the College and should possess a strong skillset to carry out the following responsibilities:
- Lead dedicated staff in critical areas of college fiscal management and operations. This position supervises finance, facilities maintenance, public safety, and community use of the Tilden Arts Center. Specifically, working in a collective bargaining environment, the Vice President will demonstrate and apply broad knowledge of:
Budget preparation and oversight,
Financial management and internal controls,
Facilities management and maintenance,
Capital projects planning,
Risk management, and
Other business-related services.
- Participate as a team member of the President's Cabinet and the Leadership Council,
- Regularly present financial and capital projects reports to the Board of Trustees and College community, and
- Participate in policy development and implementation.
Other responsibilities include:
Lead strong customer service across all financial and operations services,
Strategic planning and long-range financial projections,
Cost-benefit analysis of programs and services,
Administrative policy and procedural management,
Grant fiscal management,
Emergency response planning and implementation, and
Periodically represent the College on statewide fiscal matters.
The ideal candidate must exemplify a high degree of integrity and be a creative problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit to navigate and manage prudently to enhance a student-centered, diverse, and collaborative college community and its mission.
Master's degree in business, accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and credentials such as a CPA.
Five years of senior-level managerial experience including significant fiscal oversight and operational management in a complex organization, preferably in public higher education, demonstrating the ability to evaluate, plan, supervise, and provide collaborative leadership for Finance and Operations.
Demonstrated experience and ability in supervising, coaching, and inspiring a broad group of finance and operations staff, with a commitment to professional development, increasing diversity, and enhancing student success.
Ability to provide oversight of the College's complex capital projects, including planning, project development, and project management.
Firm understanding and experience with facilities maintenance and planning.
Firm understanding of higher education internal and external reporting requirements and key drivers of the financial statements.
Proven ability to work effectively in a collective bargaining environment.
Demonstrated ability in successfully managing a division effectively in a collegial and participatory manner across all segments of an organization/institution.
Extensive background with progressive leadership in planning, financial analysis, cost center reporting, budget development, cash flow projection, and internal controls.
Proficiency with enterprise database and Microsoft Office applications, including Access and Excel.
Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and regulations related to the financial functions of the College.
Demonstrated recent experience with strategic planning and continuous quality improvement.
Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of and experience navigating Commonwealth of Massachusetts statutes and financial and administrative infrastructure as they pertain to higher education.
Experience in emergency response planning and implementation.
Experience with Jenzabar or comparable enterprise software used in higher education to manage student accounts, accounting, and financial aid.
COMPENSATION: Annual salary range of $120,000 - $140,000 (dependent upon qualifications). Full-time, Non-Unit Professional position that includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program.
