The Integrated Service Center (ISC) supports the University’s faculty, staff and student workers by serving as a first point of contact for designated HR and Payroll inquiries and by processing centralized Human Capital Management (HCM) transactions (i.e., within the HR, Benefits and Payroll domains). The ISC has an outstanding opportunity for an Application Management Director.
Reporting to the ISC Executive Director, the Application Management Director leads a team dedicated to configuring and maintaining Workday HCM, a cloud-based human resource management software system. Supported capabilities encompass core HCM, Payroll, Time and Absence, and Benefits. More specific responsibilities include leading maintenance and continuous improvement of the Workday functional configuration, coaching a team dedicated to achieving the highest standards for quality and timely delivery, troubleshooting complex system issues, coordinating testing/ validation of functionality changes, providing content expertise for the development of Workday domain area training material, and acting as primary functional lead for integrations. In performing these duties, the incumbent will lead analysis of complex business problems and processes to mitigate risk, find cost-effective solutions, and identify functional and non-functional solutions supporting the HCM needs of the University.
The Application Management Director serves as a primary liaison with stakeholders of Workday transactional processes, coordinating closely across all tiers of the ISC and with advanced domain experts external to the team. This role requires extensive insight into the range of HCM business processes and technical considerations and encompasses cognizance of relevant compliance/regulatory standards and associated audit/control reporting.
Technical Leadership in a Cloud-based system
Leverage extensive insight across the spectrum of business processes and technical inter-dependencies, exercising cognizance of foundational design concepts, data conventions and workflow dependencies
Lead identification and implementation of complex Workday configuration changes, including core HCM, Compensation, Academic functionality, Talent/Performance Management, Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, Reporting and Security
Direct advanced analysis of the Workday HCM roadmap and coordinate with stakeholders to understand implications and associated update priorities
Support periodic Workday update processes, including comprehensive testing activities
Act as primary functional lead for integrations, Workday tenant management, data quality reviews, and audits
Oversee over $1 million in staff resources, and ensure resources are properly allocated across projects
Represent HCM Workday for major projects including resource identification, coordination with stakeholders, co-lead supplemental project resources and successful implementation and knowledge transfer while maintaining current operational functionality
Adhere to protocols and standards for facilitating configuration changes in an accurate, efficient and compliant manner
Lead evaluation of processes, identify improvement opportunities and implement required updates/enhancements in the context of a continuous improvement framework
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and project leadership for new implementations (e.g. FT, new Workday modules or major projects)
Support process improvement and optimization opportunities
Advanced Operational Support
Partner and coordinate closely across all ISC Tiers for HCM, Benefits and Payroll spectrum including customer support and engagement and collaborate with Workday cross functional areas of Analytics, Reporting and Security
Lead and/or support resolution of complex user/stakeholder inquiries as needed
Drive troubleshooting of advanced system issues, identification of resolutions and communication of results
Provide support for HCM transactions as required, including higher volume windows and major processing activities
Work with business partners and ISC Leaders to draft and implement business requirements and functional specifications to support change orders and product development
Knowledge Management, Training & Communication
Maintain productive relationships with designated stakeholders to understand domain policies, procedures and established standards
Support ISC knowledge management processes, including identification and verification of additions/changes to the working repository of knowledge content
Support product requirement documentation
Support ISC training activities, including development and verification of relevant content
Support ISC communication of relevant schedules, enhancements/updates and known issues
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Information Sciences, Computer Sciences or related area and nine years experience
Experience working in the HCM/Payroll domains with increasing responsibilities in project management and supervisory responsibilities
Experience working with HR/P systems and the configuration and maintenance thereof, including 3+ years working specifically with Workday HCM
In-depth knowledge across the range of business processes
Ability to understand business and technical design considerations and facilitate problem solving/issue resolution in the context of a customer service framework
Understanding of related integration processes
Demonstrated success in facilitating work groups
Ability to communicate clearly, in writing and in verbal presentations, to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to create and assimilate business process documentation
Extensive experience interacting with customers, including resolution of complex inquiries and efficient performance during high-volume timeframes
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Science, Computer Science, Human Resources or related field
Experience leading in a customer focused shared services environment
Working experience executing relevant business processes at the University of Washington or in a comparable higher education environment
Experience in the use of customer support infrastructure tools, including a case management system, knowledge base and associated reporting tools
Experience with process improvement including tools and approach (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
Experience supporting system testing and/or data validation activities
