The Associate Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and Title IX Coordinator is responsible for providing assistance to the Vice President of Human Resources and Diversity in the implementation of the University’s Diversity Strategic Plan, as well as, developing and managing support services, and programmatic and educational initiatives that support diversity and create a welcoming and inclusion environment at NEOMED, so that diversity and inclusion becomes a part of the culture of the University. The Associate Director will promote student, faculty, & staff development regarding diversity, cultural competency and interpersonal skill development. The Associate Director will work toward creating and communicating a welcoming environment that accepts differences, promotes tolerance, and creates opportunities for students to learn from each other. The Title IX Coordinator role has a primary responsibility of overseeing the University’s Title IX efforts. The core requirements include leading efforts across all divisions of the College to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements as it relates to Title IX laws and regulations, oversight of the policies and processes that relate to Title IX, coordinating the intake and investigatory processes when initial complaints are made, and oversight of the college-wide programming, outreach, and educational efforts related to Title IX.

Principal Functional Responsibilities Administrative Management: Manage, plan and implement programs and workshops to promote diversity and inclusion at the University. Will effectively communicate, promote and market the University’s diversity and inclusion efforts both internally and externally by developing marketing materials and promotional materials. Will manage the Diversity Center and Meditation Room to ensure access and inclusivity. Reviews regularly the policies and procedures to ensure they comply with Title IX requirements. Investigate when Title IX related report is received including interviewing involved parties and gathering evidence. Complete and secure investigatory reports, evidence, and other documents related to Title IX investigations in such a way that they are accessible to involved parties. Assess regularly the University’s compliance with and the effectiveness of policies and procedures related to Title IX. Will provide support and guidance to HR to maintain diverse hiring efforts across campus.
Training and Co-Curricular Programming: Provide diversity and inclusion leadership development support to students and student organizations, as well as, faculty and staff. Design, develop and deliver trainings, workshops and seminars on diversity and inclusion topics across the University. Provide training for students, faculty outlining their rights under Title IX; with regard to sexual misconduct and sexual discrimination and when it creates a hostile environment, the definition of consent, reporting the grievance and procedures to assess the complaints and the consequences of violating those provisions, provide support services and Title IX protections against retaliation.
Advising & Mentoring: Ensure complainants access to the University program, activities, and provide remedial measures to protect the complainant. Provide available resources to all parties involved in Title IX proceedings with advocacy groups, housing assistance, academic support, counseling, health and mental health services, and disability services. Will advise and provide direct developmental assistance to assigned student organizations in programmatic functions; attend official meetings, provide programming advice and facilitate events sponsored by assigned organizations; ensure compliance with operational procedures, policies and regulations concerning diversity and inclusion programming activities.
Outreach and Marketing: Collaborate with the Vice President in providing assistance to departments in designing efforts to positively impact the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, staff and students. Will also be responsible for management, design and maintenance of the diversity website content and regular website updates. Will serve as a University and community resource for diversity; encourage sensitivity and responsiveness to institutional diversity, which includes the management, implementation and participation in diversity related networking events to promote NEOMED’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Provide advice and consultation to the University constituency for the creation and interpretation of University policies on issues of diversity and inclusiveness.
Education/Degrees: Master’s degree in higher education or related field, student development/affairs, social and behavioral sciences or related field required.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in EEO related compliance, investigations and policy, diversity programming and support services; clear understanding of diversity, equity and cultural competence practice in higher education. Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, FERPA, and other EEO federal statues important to higher education. Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituencies required.
