Involves the development and implementation of the organization's information systems and tools that are applied to clinical information. Works closely with clinicians across all hospital / healthcare departments to optimize effective use of systems. Coordinates analytical support for health management, including profiling, health economics, and business analytics / performance metrics. Defines systems and applications to support various functions. May provide customer service, troubleshooting and maintenance. Applies skills and experience as a seasoned clinical informatics professional to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or portions of large projects.
Works with business, technical, and clinical personnel to develop and implement complex clinical informatics solutions and to create integrated architecture to ensure optimal use of tools and components. Collaborates closely with business operations, healthcare clinicians, and IT applications and technical teams to translate operations workflow and patient experience objectives into technical requirements. Works on project teams that include business and clinical staff to improve clinical informatics planning and systems and to develop metrics and analytics that support health management in making decisions for upgrades and modifications that are cost-effective, scalable, and meet present and future needs.
Performs quality assurance testing of complex scope, runs SQL (Structured Query Language) queries for enhanced medical data access, and writes and maintains appropriate documentation of design and deployment processes, workflows, and results. As necessary, provides support, troubleshooting, problem solving, and instruction for clinical informatics users and participates in curriculum development for user training. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
Five or more years of relevant professional level experience working with clinical information systems and/or healthcare informatics.
Will be required to be certified in assigned EMR vendor's product/module within the first 6 months of employment.
Must satisfy all vendor testing requirements to be certified without needing to attend vendors training a second time for the same class.
Professional experience and proven success performing clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, rules development, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology.
Professional level experience working with clinical information systems and developing reports.
Advanced level capabilities with MS Access and MSSQL server and related technologies.
Knowledge and advanced level experience working with Transact SQL, Crystal Reports 11, OLAP structures and/or other related technologies.
Extensive experience and working knowledge of all MS office products. Knowledge and experience of database management technologies.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to working a group setting and group projects.
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently, setting priorities to meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal, written communication skills, presentation and report writing.
EPIC Certification. Clarity Data Model EpicCare Ambulatory Certification, EpicCare Ambulatory Certification.
Advanced level experience with database management and various third-party report building tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, Cognos, SAS, and others.
Knowledge and intermediate level experience working with Transact SQL, and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports 11, OLAP structures and/or other related technologies.
Experience in a large, complex healthcare environment.
Familiarity with standard healthcare terminologies such as LOINC, SNOMED, CPT, ICD, etc.
Experience with developing and managing population health, care management, transitions of care, high risk, and/or quality improvement programs.
Experience with developing and managing knowledge management, data governance, and/or master data management programs.
