DEERFIELD ASSOCIATES has been retained by Boston University Academy, located in Boston, Massachusetts, to conduct a national search for a Director of Institutional Advancement.
An academically rigorous independent high school on Boston University's campus, Boston University Academy (BUA) offers students who love learning both a traditional, caring independent school experience and access to a broad range of Boston University courses. BUA seeks an entrepreneurial full-time Director of Institutional Advancement who is excited to grow the program with a dynamic BUA advancement and leadership team, while leveraging the advancement resources of a major research university. The Director will report to the Head of School and serve two two primary functions: leading and implementing BUA's fundraising operations, which include annual, capital, endowment, planned giving, and stewardship, and strategic oversight of Institutional Advancement efforts--fundraising, constituent relations, and marketing and communications. The Director of Institutional Advancement will oversee the preparation and planning for, and ultimately the execution of, BUA's first-ever comprehensive campaign in the near future. Candidates must bring an entrepreneurial outlook, possess strong strategic and tactical project management skills, and should have at least seven years of relevant development experience.
The opportunity is targeted for a start date of July 2020, though there is the possibility of an earlier start date depending on the availability of the candidate of choice selected following a comprehensive national search.
